Adding a new baby to a home can be a hectic time for everyone in the household - - especially for an animal that has been the “baby” of the family. Suddenly, a new, demanding being comes into the household and busy parents have less time and attention to devote to their pets. There are also unfamiliar noises, smells and routines that can further confuse and stress pets.
Every year, thousands of animals are turned into shelters by expectant parents concerned about how their pet may affect the health and safety of their new baby. Many people worry that the new sounds, smells and activities surrounding an infant may cause their pet to see the newborn baby as competition, prey, or even a toy.
With a little preparation and assistance, you can prepare your home and pets for the arrival of your bundle of joy and make sure that it is a safe and (relatively) stress-free experience for all.
Suggested donation: $10.
