Marvin Turns 10 on July 4th!
July 4th is a celebration of independence, for Marvin ...it's his birthday! Marvin is turning 10 years old (or 70 in dog years) and it's his celebration of a second chance!
July 1, 2009
Over the last 9 years (63 dog years), Marvin has spent his days working hard to help other animals less fortunate than him. Marvin visits nursing homes to make the elderly smile, he visits schools and youth groups to teach them about compassion toward animals, and most of all he does whatever he can to raise funds for homeless, abused, sick. and less fortunate animals in his community!
So for his birthday, Marvin is asking his friends to donate to his fund so he can continue to help other animals get a second chance like him! Marvin is a happy dog with a great home and lots of friends, so who needs gifts? He has plenty of toys, treats, bandannas, beds...you name it, he's got it! So in lieu of gifts, Marvin asks that his friends contribute to his most prized possession...the Marvin Fund.
The Marvin Fund has helped in defraying medical costs for sick and injured animals whose elderly and disabled owners could not afford them. The fund has helped countless numbers of injured animals found on the road, abandoned in dumpsters, or left at the Rhode Island SPCA's door get a second chance.
Marvin has visited over 100 different nursing homes, hospitals, schools, day care centers, private homes, libraries, and summer camp programs. Through his visits, people smile, feel his unconditional love, and most of all, have hope. Marvin was very fortunate and feels the least he can do is to convey the message of never giving up regardless of how dark it may be in life.
The Rhode Island SPCA asks that you help Marvin help those who can't help themselves by making a donation to the Marvin Fund. The Marvin Fund operates on public support and your donations are needed.
Please visit Marvin's web site to read more about some of Marvin's friends. More than 1,300 abandoned, abused, and needy animals have been helped by the Marvin Fund.
