PetSmart: Farewell Felines in Hyannis
After a decade of finding felines homes among shoppers at PetSmart in Hyannis, the Friends of the Plymouth Pound's adoption center will be kicked to the curb by the store this morning for not scratching up enough business.

"They're just looking at dollar signs,'' said Gayle Fitzpatrick, FPP's founder. "This is not merchandise. These are living, breathing creatures.''
The kitties are being bounced today like so many balls of yarn because of FPP's perceived pussyfooting around.
In the past 10 years, Fitzpatrick said FPP has placed 591 tabbies with homes through PetSmart — 49 this year, to the pet supply giant's dismay.
"They told me every person coming through the door is their patron and every person who wants a cat should get one," Fitzpatrick said. "We're trying to raise the status of cats and make them an important part of a family, not just hand them out."
