Dr. Michel A. Selmer, a Long Island native and resident, introduces The Caring Vet web site, which allows any pet owner to ask a veterinarian questions about pet diet, nutrition, behavior and training, and preventative care - free of charge.

November 6, 2009

"Economic times are really tough, but we can't sacrifice our pet's health," Dr. Selmer said. "Now pet owners have an outlet to ask questions and take an active role in managing their pet's health, while saving money and giving their pet professional care. Pet owners often struggle to find reliable information about their pets on the Internet, so The Caring Vet provides one place to go for all pet owners to get the latest pet health news and accurate information."

Some of the topics covered at The Caring Vet include dog and cat diet and nutrition information, advice on preventative pet health care, information on the proper care for puppies and kittens, dog and cat medical symptoms to watch for, the health benefits to humans from owning a pet, pet medications, pet health insurance, pet vaccinations, and the breaking news in pet health. Best of all, the topics discussed come directly from other pet owners, so you can be sure to get relevant information each time you visit the site.

"If you have a medical emergency, it's important that you seek immediate medical care at your local veterinarian's office or animal hospital," Dr. Selmer said. "However, if you have questions or concerns about your pet, The Caring Vet is a place for all animal lovers to find the answers they have been seeking, and access that information from the comfort of their own home at any time. We not only want to be a source of information for symptoms and illness, but also a great resource for happy and healthy pets as well."
