Adoptable Pet of the Day: Jaspar
Jaspar is an 8-year-old male German Shepherd mix available for adoption from The Partnership for Animal Welfare (Greenbelt, Maryland 20768).

PAW doesn't know much about Jaspar's previous home, but they can tell he has had a hard life. He does not seem to expect kind treatment and yet is pleased and grateful when you pet him or give him a belly rub (which he just loves), a kind word, or a treat. Being a more mature guy, Jaspar is calm and laid back in the house, but loves to run in a fenced-in yard and go for leash walks.
Jaspar gets along well with people and with most dogs. Being a vulnerable kind of guy, Jaspar is a little timid at first in new situations. He may hang back before entering a room, but once he knows it's safe, he'll make himself comfortable.
His ideal adopter would be someone who recognizes and loves the big heart in this sweet Shepherd mix, and will be patient when Jaspar needs a little coaxing to overcome the memories of past experiences.
Jaspar may never be a jump-in-your-lap and kiss-your-face kind of guy. And although he's too big to be a lap dog anyway, he'll be devoted to a family who will give him the love, attention, and belly rubs he has so missed in his previous life.

PetWork note: Some lucky pets may already have found their forever homes by the time you meet them here, but don't worry. There are plenty of other wonderful pets who would be happy to share your home and love you to pieces.
