Adoptable Pet of the Day: Dina

— filed under:

Dina is a 7-year-old female Chihuahua available for adoption from The Sanctuary for Senior Dogs (Cleveland, Ohio 44109).

June 3, 2009

Dina, a 7-year-old Chihuahua, was one frightened little girl when she came to the Sanctuary in mid December. They suspect that poor little Dina, who weighs only 4 pounds, was abused; she is hand shy and very defensive until she gets to know you and until you gain her trust. A vet exam also revealed a broken jaw that was never treated. Dina had a long-standing yeast infection of the skin, which left her with a bald tail and thinning coat. The infection, however, has responded well to baths, treatment, and regular care. Her blood tests were all normal, including a thyroid panel. She has recently been spayed and is ready to begin looking for her new home.

Dina has lasting emotional scars from her years of abuse and needs a home with people who are gentle, quiet, patient, and loving. She is friendly with other animals as long as they respect her. Dina's adoption is limited to adult homes without any children or visiting children under 18; potential adopters must live in Northeast Ohio. Because of her history, the Sanctuary will not make exceptions to these requirements
