Adoptable Pet of the Day: Maarten

On a recent vacation. one of Lizzy's Friends befriended Maarten, who was abandoned in St. Maarten about 6 months ago as a youngster. His human companion came to St. Maarten on his own boat, docked in Great Bay, and brought Marten with him to the nearby restaurant, Chesterfields, several times. Several weeks passed and the dog kept visiting at dinner time, promptly at 8 every night, but without the owner. "Maarten," now abandoned, took refuge in a neighboring shipyard, digging himself a three-foot hole in the sand, under a big back hoe, to stay cool and sheltered from the island storms. Lizzy's Friends believes in helping where they can, so they made another trip to the island and escorted Maarten back to the U.S.

Maarten is a young lab mix (1.5 yrs or so), reddish gold in color. He has been neutered, dewormed, heartworm negative, tested negative for erlichia, and has been treated for fleas and ticks. He has a wonderful disposition and will become someone's couch potato. Please show this young fellow that Americans care.
