Adoptable Special Needs: Blair

— filed under:

Blair is a 5-year-old female Jack Russell Terrier mix available for adoption from The Partnership for Animal Welfare (Greenbelt, Maryland 20768).

August 24, 2009

Blair has a compulsion disorder quite similar to OCD that people experience. Her compulsion is with lights, shadows, and unexpected noises. As you can imagine, things like thunderstorms and bright sunny days make her very anxious. Because of her issues, her environment needs to be controlled as much as possible. Extended periods of time in the yard unattended exacerbate her issues and are most likely what started her problems in the first place, becoming a means of entertainment from boredom. Blair is on an anxiety medicine that she will likely need for the rest of her life. This medicine costs about $22 a month.

Despite her issues, Blair is a very loving and endearing dog and makes a wonderful companion in the right home.

PetWork note: Some lucky pets may already have found their forever homes by the time you meet them here, but don't worry. There are plenty of other wonderful pets who would be happy to share your home and love you to pieces.
