Adoptable Special Needs: Marissa

Meet the most perfect sweetie ever! She is a mushy, hold-me-forever, cuddly, head-butter, rub-my-belly kitty. She loves to sleep on your chest, lap or next to you. She loves to be held and will let you hold her in any position. She just purrs away all the time. Weighing in at only 6 .5 lbs, she is petite and sweet.

Marissa's only issue is she has EGC: Eosinophilic Granuloma Complex. Basically, this is an inflammatory allergic response in the body. She seems to have an environmental allergy and/or food allergy. She has only had lesions (swellings on the lip, cheek, or nose) three times in four months, and all were treated successfully with a steroid injection. These inflammatory responses only occurred when she was boarded at the vet and once when she spent a day at the vet. She has been lesion free in her foster home. Due to her reactions at the vet, the rescue feels that she may have allergies to certain chemical cleaners. Her treatment needs are minimal and she lives a perfectly normal life. The doctor who is treating her says that she may grow out of this as she ages. Marissa is 10 months old, and loves other cats.
